Our IT Solutions for Sustainability

Our IT Solutions for Sustainability

Most of the IT equipment we acquire results in an element of recycling where the equipment has no life and therefore recycling is the only option. That’s where we come in. Minimising the environmental impact of IT disposal is at the core of what we do. Learn more about how we're practising sustainable IT asset disposal throughout our business.

0% to landfill

We’ve set a business goal of sending zero waste to landfill and we’re fully committed to doing anything we can to achieve that goal as soon as we can. That’s why we’re continually investing in streamlining our processes and technology so we can reuse and recycle as much waste as we possibly can.

We’re using solar power

Another business goal we have set ourselves is to become wholly reliant on solar power energy by the end of 2025. To help us achieve that goal, we’ve installed over 380 sq metres of solar panels on the roof of our processing facility based in Pershore.

We support wildlife initiatives

We’re proud to be a Corporate Partner with the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust. In 2021, we provided funding for the Trust to plant heritage trees in a semi-natural ancient woodland. Most recently we helped to plant over 800 trees with the Trust. Read more about this story on our blog.

Additionally, we’ve supplied tools and equipment to support the ongoing work of the Trust in maintaining their 80 sites and over 3,000 acres of protected natural landscape throughout Worcestershire.

We’re a WEEE compliant recycler

We’re a Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) compliant recycler and to ensure we’re fully compliant, we’re regularly reviewed and inspected by the Environment Agency. The WEEE Directive aims to reduce the amount of electronic waste being disposed of via landfill or incineration to help limit pollution.

We’re environmentally compliant

We’re always continually aiming to improve our sustainable IT solutions and environmental performance, so much so we’re compliant with numerous environmental policies, including the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System. Visit our accreditations page to view and download all of our policies.

We’ll reuse and recycle wherever possible

We’ll do whatever we can to ensure we reuse and recycle IT assets wherever we can, because this means less waste sent to landfill. Any assets that we can’t reuse, recycle, repair, or have a limited life expectancy are normally:

  • Stripped of their parts and we’ll remove any processors, motherboards, memory cards and any other housed cards
  • Any hard disk drives are scanned, removed and shredded in-house at our facility to 25mm

We send shredded stock to an ATF

Our shredded stock is bagged, labelled and weighed before it’s sent to an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF).

Here, the stock is further processed at a recycling plant and shredded to an even finer level before being sorted into various components including aluminium, steel and copper. The recycling plant will recover any precious metals such as silver, gold, titanium and palladium.

We created a Green Agenda to help guide our IT solutions for sustainability for the future of our organisation. The aim is to minimise our impact on the environment and ensure we run our operations as close to carbon neutral as possible. You can read our full Green Agenda below.
